Our Lead Pastor is Chris Basham. Chris is devoted to God’s Word being the center of all that we do as a church and our lives individually in the world around us. He is committed to seeing others grow in their knowledge of God’s Word and also in their relationships with others
Chris grew up in Tallahassee, Florida and attended Florida State University, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Marketing) with a Minor in Communications. He also holds a Master of Arts in Christian Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
From 2002 – 2012, Chris served in the Recreation Ministry of Idlewild Baptist Church, a ministry he led as Minister to Recreation prior to being asked to become the Lead Pastor of The Church of Odessa. While on staff at Idlewild, Chris also spent 6 years teaching a Bible Fellowship Class.
Chris truly does desire that The Church at Odessa “grow up in all respects” regarding their walk with the Lord. He is involved in leading numerous discipleship groups weekly with individuals from his church and also individuals from other churches. His ministry is not exclusive to his own flock, as Chris simply wants people plugged into a healthy, theologically sound local body of believers, whether that is the church he pastors or not. Pastor Chris wants to help people grow up in the Lord so that they are equipped to pour themselves into others.
Chris’ first and foremost ministry is to his own family, and he has been married to Karen since 2003. Chris and Karen have two children, Bradley and Sarah Grace.
